Mary Fosse, State Representative Visits SMART Local 66
Mary Fosse, the State Representative for the 38th Legislative District, recently visited the SMART Local 66 Everett Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) facility to tour our high school pre-apprenticeship program. This program accommodates up to 15 high school students from local schools who undergo a comprehensive 4-week course at our JATC during the summer months. Following the completion of their 4-week training, the top 5 students gain direct entry into our apprenticeship program. It’s truly commendable that these young individuals dedicate half of their summer vacation to this initiative; their commitment is quite impressive.
During her visit, Mary actively engaged with our program by working on a toolbox project, which she even had the chance to take home. She received assistance from one of our high school pre-apprentices, McKenna Stewart. Furthermore, we arranged a captivating show-and-tell session, where Mary had the opportunity to observe the high schoolers in action and ask them questions. It was a valuable and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
